Meta Ads Manager can feel intimidating the first time you open it. Here's the beginner-friendly path I walk small business clients through before their first campaign goes live.
Start with one clear goal
Before touching the ad platform, decide on a single measurable goal — leads, sales or bookings — and resist the temptation to optimize for everything at once.
Install the pixel first
The Meta Pixel needs time to gather data before it can optimize delivery well. Install it at least a couple of weeks before your first real campaign if possible.
Keep the funnel simple
One offer, one landing page, one clear call-to-action. Complexity is the enemy of a first campaign — you want clean data you can actually learn from.
Budget for testing, not just results
Your first two to three weeks of spend should be treated as a learning budget. Expect to test two or three audiences and two or three creative directions before scaling what works.
Watch cost per result, not just reach
Reach and impressions feel good but rarely pay the bills. Cost per lead or cost per purchase is the number that actually tells you whether a campaign is working.
